Training Mileage Schedule

In order to complete a Century ride, you need to develop a training regimen with specific goals in mind.  The best way to get started is to map out a 12 week plan and set mileage goals.  While putting in mileage isn't the only thing you should be doing to get ready, it's definitely the best place to start.  Having a strong base of mileage under your belt, will yield big dividends down the road.

Below is a table of recommended mileage for someone looking to complete a Century.  You'll see that the weekly mileage starts at 71 in week 1, and rises to 167 in week 12.  This gradual increase is to allow you body to adjust and acclimate to a 100 mile ride.

While you may not be able to get out and ride every day as the plan suggests, you should find a way to gradually increase mileage so that you're strong and ready in 12 weeks.
